Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

Overview

Did you know the Big Island is home to one of the most active volcanoes in the world? Kīlauea, the youngest and most active volcano on the island, continues to shape and reshape the landscape today.

This epic adventure begins with a scenic two-hour drive over Saddle Road. Once we arrive at Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park, we’ll explore a trail dotted with steam vents, hike down to the floor of Halema’uma’u crater, and learn about the volcanic forces that created the Hawaiian Islands.

After our short but steep hike down into the crater, we will walk through a real lava tube, and see lava tree molds left behind by ancient flows. And if we’re lucky, we might even get to witness live lava activity from the safety of Volcano House! After a day of discovery, we’ll head back across the island with memories of an unforgettable journey into the heart of Hawai‘i’s volcanic landscape.
